"My exploration in the process of jewelry making is with a deep respect for the innate properties of the material. The noble metals and gemstones display strong qualities of order and structure within their internal network. I work with a focused attention for the craft, which is a visible dialogue within the jewelry. I like to think of my designs as evolving from an emotional state to an æsthetic experience and back again."

TAP by Todd Pownell is a fully realized expression inherent in the partnership of designers Todd Pownell and his partner in life and creativity, Debra Rosen. Todd has a technical background as a trained metalsmith and gemologist while Debra’s experience is rooted in the European studio atelier traditions. These complementary perspectives result in a distinctly romantic aesthetic.

The visual effect throughout the collection emphasizes the richness of materials contrasting with distinctive settings, often featuring inverted diamonds with unique combinations of texture and shape, in designs that are organically refined.

Each piece honors the natural properties of form, structure, and craftsmanship. The precious metals and diamonds with which it is created, pays homage to the universal order in nature. A spirit of collaboration runs throughout the design and fabrication process, with an aesthetic vision and perception to the narrative being told by the jewelry they produce.

TAP is proudly produced entirely by hand in the brand’s Cleveland, OH-based live/work space. The workshop prioritizes responsible green practices, and the company maintains a healthy culture that culminates in a positive, rewarding and challenging studio environment.
