This painting depicts a large sky full of movement, irregular shapes, light, and dark as a storm approaches the landscape. The conflict in the painting comes from the orange/red sky at the horizon above the mountains. At the lower part of the painting, the mountain range and the floor of the earth gives a sense of calmness through the visual cleanliness.
This is what I see as extremes in nature… peace and restfulness vs. the unknown and unpredictable.
