This is what I call a tricky or surprise painting: the sky being so eye-catching with hot and cool colors at the same time in the same space. The sky, remarkable as it is, catches your eye and your attention, but then the surprise is seeing the mountain range that is easy on the eyes, rhythmic, pleasant, and very minimally explained. The positive and negative in the painting creates the “drama.”
