Slate Gray Gallery is excited to feature a new artist in the gallery for the month of February: Hooey Mountain. We'll have a selection of prints from her "Skier Series" available, both framed and unframed.
Nearly 20 years ago, Hooey bought the first two antique toy skiers in what has now become an extensive collection of over 150 antique toy skiers from the dawn of skiing (1930's-40's). She has used them as the basis for the "Skier Series." The work is shot at ski resorts, high in the mountains. She is constantly exploring the landscape, examining the environment and the details that mimic what she is feeling on that day, but on a smaller scale. Hooey uses framing, perspective, and depth of field to bring the toys to life and celebrate the beauty of the landscape.
Since the works will be on view during the Telluride Aids Benefit (TAB), the gallery will donate a portion of each sale to this important nonprofit. Go to www.tellurideaidsbenefit.org to learn more.
